Quality dental care should feel accessible, clear, and supportive. Half Moon Dentistry proudly welcomes patients covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan and our team is happy to help you understand your benefits before treatment begins.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan, also called the CDCP, is a Government of Canada dental benefit created to help make oral health care more affordable for eligible Canadian residents who do not have access to private dental insurance.
The plan helps cover many preventive, diagnostic, restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, periodontal, and oral surgery services. Coverage is administered by Sun Life on behalf of the Government of Canada.
You may qualify for the CDCP if you meet the Government of Canada eligibility requirements.
You must not have access to private dental insurance through work, school, pension, professional coverage, or purchased insurance.
Your adjusted family net income must be less than $90,000.
You must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes and have filed your tax return for the previous year.
Not always. The CDCP helps reduce the cost of dental care, but it does not always cover the full cost of treatment.
| Adjusted Family Net Income | CDCP Covers | Patient Co-Payment |
|---|---|---|
| Under $70,000 | 100% of eligible CDCP fees | 0% |
| $70,000 to $79,999 | 60% of eligible CDCP fees | 40% |
| $80,000 to $89,999 | 40% of eligible CDCP fees | 60% |
Applications are completed directly through the Government of Canada. You may need your Social Insurance Number, date of birth, mailing address, and information from your most recent tax return.
If you have already been approved for the CDCP, let us know when booking your appointment. Your oral health provider submits eligible CDCP claims directly to Sun Life, and Sun Life does not reimburse members directly.
Bring your CDCP member information to your appointment.
